How to connect
Bring BitTrade in.
Pick the method that suits you — both land in the same ledger. Stuck? See connecting accounts in the help centre.
- Sign in to BitTrade and open its API management page.
- Create a new API key and enable read (view-only) permission only. Leave trading and withdrawals switched off.
- In HashBooks, choose BitTrade under Integrations and paste the API key and secret.
- HashBooks syncs your full history and keeps it up to date.
- Download your trade, deposit and withdrawal history from BitTrade.
- Copy the rows into the HashBooks CSV / Excel template: date, type, what you sent and received, the fee, and any TDS.
- Upload it in HashBooks, check the preview, then confirm. Uploading the same file twice never double-counts.

Worked example
How the tax adds up.
A typical BitTrade sale, taxed the way your country does it. The figures are illustrative; HashBooks works out yours from your own history.
Illustrative · United States
| Proceeds | $3,500 |
|---|---|
| Cost basis (FIFO) | −$2,000 |
| Long-term gain | $1,500 |
| Tax at the 15% long-term rate | $225 |
Held a year or less, the same gain would be taxed at your ordinary rate, for example 22%: $330. The full example in the help centre.
Illustrative · United Kingdom
| Net gain | £20,000 |
|---|---|
| Less the annual exempt amount | −£3,000 |
| Taxable gain | £17,000 |
| £10,270 in the basic-rate band × 18% | £1,848.60 |
| Remaining £6,730 × 24% | £1,615.20 |
| Capital Gains Tax | £3,463.80 |
Your salary decides how much of the gain falls in the 18% band. The full example in the help centre.
Illustrative · India
| Sale value | ₹1,50,000 |
|---|---|
| Cost of acquisition | −₹1,00,000 |
| Gain (the ₹500 fee isn’t deductible) | ₹50,000 |
| Tax at 30% | ₹15,000 |
| Cess at 4% | ₹600 |
| Total tax | ₹15,600 |
| Less 1% TDS already deducted | −₹1,500 |
| Balance at filing | ₹14,100 |
A loss on another coin wouldn’t reduce this: VDA losses can’t be set off. The full example in the help centre.
