Worked example
How the tax adds up.
A Deribit position, taxed the way your country does it. The figures are illustrative; HashBooks works out yours from your own history.
Illustrative · United States
| Realised profit on the position | $1,200 |
|---|---|
| Funding paid while it was open | −$80 |
| Net result | $1,120 |
| At a 22% ordinary rate if short-term | $246.40 |
Rates depend on how the contract is treated; check yours with a tax professional. The full example in the help centre.
Illustrative · United Kingdom
| Realised profit on the position | £1,000 |
|---|---|
| Funding paid while it was open | −£60 |
| Net result | £940 |
HashBooks reports the figures in pounds; derivatives can be taxed differently from coins, so have an adviser check them. The full example in the help centre.
Illustrative · India
| Realised profit on the position | ₹80,000 |
|---|---|
| Funding paid while it was open | −₹5,000 |
| Net result | ₹75,000 |
Reported in rupees; how it’s taxed depends on the contract, so check with a CA. The full example in the help centre.

Questions
Deribit, answered.
Does Deribit report my trades to the tax office?
Reporting depends on where Deribit is regulated and where you live, so don’t rely on it. Your return has to include every sale and swap across all your platforms, which is what HashBooks brings together.
How are Deribit futures and perpetuals taxed?
Closing a position realises a gain or loss, and funding you pay or receive adds to or reduces your result. HashBooks imports both from Deribit and reports them under your country’s rules; the tax section above shows how your country treats them.
Does HashBooks need trading permission on Deribit?
No. Create the Deribit key with read access only and leave trading and withdrawals off. HashBooks has no code that can trade or withdraw, and the key is encrypted with AES-256-GCM and deleted when you disconnect.
How do I get my Deribit transaction history for taxes?
Connect Deribit with a read-only API key and HashBooks pulls the history for you. You can also export a statement from Deribit and upload it with the HashBooks template.
Which HashBooks plan do I need for Deribit?
Connecting Deribit and seeing an estimated tax summary is free for up to 100 transactions across 3 connections. Filing reports for your country start on the Starter plan; see pricing.
Can HashBooks trade or withdraw on Deribit?
No. The key you create is view-only, and HashBooks contains no code that can trade, withdraw or transfer. It’s encrypted with AES-256-GCM and deleted the moment you remove Deribit.
