How to connect
Bring Story in.
It takes a couple of minutes. Stuck? See connecting accounts in the help centre.
- Copy your public Story address (starts with 0x) — never your seed phrase or private key.
- In HashBooks, add a wallet and paste the address.
- HashBooks reads the full on-chain history for that address and classifies every transfer.
What people use it for
Story and its NFTs.
Story, now rebranding as the DATA Network, is an L1 for tracking provenance and licensing of IP and human data used for AI.
- Minting, buying and selling NFTs, each with its own cost and proceeds
- Creator rewards and royalties, which most countries treat as income
- Gas paid on every mint and trade

Good to know
Story specifics.
- One 0x address works across EVM networks, Story included, but each network records its own transactions. Add your address once more for Story.
- Story uses ETH for gas. Each fee is spent ETH, so HashBooks records the fee and, where your country treats spending crypto as a disposal, its gain or loss.
Worked example
One example, line by line.
A typical move onto Story, taxed the way your country does it. The figures are illustrative; HashBooks works out yours from your own history.
Illustrative · United States

Illustrative · United Kingdom

Questions
Story, answered.
Is bridging to Story taxable?
Moving your own crypto to Story through a bridge is generally not a sale, because you still own it. Watch for bridges that swap the token on the way: receiving a different asset can be a disposal. HashBooks matches the two sides when both addresses are connected.
Are Story gas fees tax deductible?
It depends on your country. In the US and UK a fee paid on a trade usually becomes part of its cost or reduces proceeds; in India only the cost of acquisition is deductible. HashBooks applies the rule for the country you file in.
Which HashBooks plan do I need for Story?
Connecting Story and seeing an estimated tax summary is free for up to 100 transactions across 3 connections. Filing reports for your country start on the Starter plan; see pricing.
Can HashBooks move anything from my Story address?
No. A public address shows history but can’t sign anything, and HashBooks never asks for a recovery phrase or private key. It reads; it can’t trade, withdraw or transfer.
