Status
Botanix is winding down.
Botanix was an EVM Bitcoin L2 using BTC for gas and BTC yield; it announced shutdown on 1 July 2026.
- Your past activity on the chain stays on-chain, and HashBooks still reads it from your address
- Bridging assets back is a transfer between your own wallets, not a sale
- Keep the history: you may need it for the year you dispose of the assets

How to connect
Botanix, step by step.
It takes a couple of minutes. Stuck? See connecting accounts in the help centre.
- Copy your public Botanix address (starts with 0x) — never your seed phrase or private key.
- In HashBooks, add a wallet and paste the address.
- HashBooks reads the full on-chain history for that address and classifies every transfer.
Good to know
Botanix specifics.
- Your Botanix address is the same 0x address you use on Ethereum and other EVM networks, but Botanix keeps its own history: add the address for Botanix to bring that history in.
- Gas on Botanix is paid in BTC (Botanix). Every fee spends a little BTC, and HashBooks records each one at its value on the day.
- The Botanix docs describe it as a Bitcoin-based blockchain that combines Bitcoin's security with Ethereum's smart contract capabilities.

Questions
Botanix, answered.
Is bridging to Botanix taxable?
Moving your own crypto to Botanix through a bridge is generally not a sale, because you still own it. Watch for bridges that swap the token on the way: receiving a different asset can be a disposal. HashBooks matches the two sides when both addresses are connected.
Are Botanix gas fees tax deductible?
It depends on your country. In the US and UK a fee paid on a trade usually becomes part of its cost or reduces proceeds; in India only the cost of acquisition is deductible. HashBooks applies the rule for the country you file in.
Which HashBooks plan do I need for Botanix?
Connecting Botanix and seeing an estimated tax summary is free for up to 100 transactions across 3 connections. Filing reports for your country start on the Starter plan; see pricing.
Can HashBooks move anything from my Botanix address?
No. A public address shows history but can’t sign anything, and HashBooks never asks for a recovery phrase or private key. It reads; it can’t trade, withdraw or transfer.
