How to connect
Bring opBNB in.
It takes a couple of minutes. Stuck? See connecting accounts in the help centre.
- Copy your public opBNB address (starts with 0x) — never your seed phrase or private key.
- In HashBooks, add a wallet and paste the address.
- HashBooks reads the full on-chain history for that address and classifies every transfer.
Good to know
opBNB specifics.
- One 0x address works across EVM networks, opBNB included, but each network records its own transactions. Add your address once more for opBNB.
- Gas on opBNB is paid in BNB (BNB Chain Native Token). Every fee spends a little BNB, and HashBooks records each one at its value on the day.
- opBNB is the layer 2 scaling solution for BNB Smart Chain. Its parent chain is BNB Smart Chain.
- The block explorer is opBNBScan.

Worked example
One example, line by line.
A typical move onto opBNB, taxed the way your country does it. The figures are illustrative; HashBooks works out yours from your own history.
Illustrative · United States
| Bridge 1 ETH from Ethereum (cost $2,000) | Not a sale |
|---|---|
| Swap the ETH for tokens worth | $2,600 |
| Cost basis carried over the bridge | −$2,000 |
| Gain on the swap | $600 |
| Gas paid in ETH, added to cost | −$4 |
| Reported gain | $596 |
The bridge keeps your original cost; the swap is the taxable event. The full example in the help centre.
Illustrative · United Kingdom
| Bridge 1 ETH (pool cost £1,600) | Not a disposal |
|---|---|
| Swap the ETH for tokens worth | £2,100 |
| Allowable cost from the pool | −£1,600 |

| Cost of acquisition | −₹1,70,000 |
| Gain (gas isn’t deductible) | ₹50,000 |
| Tax at 30% plus 4% cess | ₹15,600 |

Questions
opBNB, answered.
Is bridging to opBNB taxable?
Moving your own crypto to opBNB through a bridge is generally not a sale, because you still own it. Watch for bridges that swap the token on the way: receiving a different asset can be a disposal. HashBooks matches the two sides when both addresses are connected.
Are opBNB gas fees tax deductible?
It depends on your country. In the US and UK a fee paid on a trade usually becomes part of its cost or reduces proceeds; in India only the cost of acquisition is deductible. HashBooks applies the rule for the country you file in.
Which HashBooks plan do I need for opBNB?
Connecting opBNB and seeing an estimated tax summary is free for up to 100 transactions across 3 connections. Filing reports for your country start on the Starter plan; see pricing.
Can HashBooks move anything from my opBNB address?
No. A public address shows history but can’t sign anything, and HashBooks never asks for a recovery phrase or private key. It reads; it can’t trade, withdraw or transfer.
