Good to know
Paymium specifics.
- Paymium’s API has no trade-history endpoint that HashBooks can read, so trades must come from a file. Without them your gains can’t be worked out.
- The Paymium API documentation separates public endpoints, which need no key, from private endpoints, which need an API key.
- API keys are generated from the user account, using the developer tokens page linked from the developers page.

How to connect
Connect Paymium in a few minutes.
Pick the method that suits you — both land in the same ledger. Stuck? See connecting accounts in the help centre.
- Sign in to Paymium and open its API management page.
- Create a new API key and enable read (view-only) permission only. Leave trading and withdrawals switched off.
- In HashBooks, choose Paymium under Integrations and paste the API key and secret.
- HashBooks syncs your full history and keeps it up to date.
- Download your trade, deposit and withdrawal history from Paymium.
- Copy the rows into the HashBooks CSV / Excel template: date, type, what you sent and received, the fee, and any TDS.
- Upload it in HashBooks, check the preview, then confirm. Uploading the same file twice never double-counts.

Worked example
How the tax adds up.
A typical Paymium sale, with the tax shown for the country you picked. The numbers are for illustration only; yours come from your own history.
Illustrative · United States
| Proceeds | $3,500 |
|---|---|
| Cost basis (FIFO) | −$2,000 |
| Long-term gain | $1,500 |
| Tax at the 15% long-term rate | $225 |
Held a year or less, the same gain would be taxed at your ordinary rate, for example 22%: $330. The full example in the help centre.
Illustrative · United Kingdom
| Net gain | £20,000 |
|---|---|
| Less the annual exempt amount | −£3,000 |
| Taxable gain | £17,000 |
| £10,270 in the basic-rate band × 18% | £1,848.60 |
| Remaining £6,730 × 24% | £1,615.20 |
| Capital Gains Tax | £3,463.80 |
Your salary decides how much of the gain falls in the 18% band. The full example in the help centre.
Illustrative · India
| Sale value | ₹1,50,000 |
|---|---|
| Cost of acquisition | −₹1,00,000 |
| Gain (the ₹500 fee isn’t deductible) | ₹50,000 |
| Tax at 30% | ₹15,000 |
| Cess at 4% | ₹600 |
| Total tax | ₹15,600 |
| Less 1% TDS already deducted | −₹1,500 |
| Balance at filing | ₹14,100 |
A loss on another coin wouldn’t reduce this: VDA losses can’t be set off. The full example in the help centre.

Questions
Paymium, answered.
Does Paymium report my trades to the tax office?
Reporting depends on where Paymium is regulated and where you live, so don’t rely on it. Your return has to include every sale and swap across all your platforms, which is what HashBooks brings together.
Why do I need a file for Paymium trades?
The Paymium API gives HashBooks your balances but not your trades. Download your trade history from Paymium and upload it with the HashBooks template; the two sources land in the same ledger.
How do I get my Paymium transaction history for taxes?
Connect Paymium with a read-only API key and HashBooks pulls the history for you. You can also export a statement from Paymium and upload it with the HashBooks template.
Which HashBooks plan do I need for Paymium?
Connecting Paymium and seeing an estimated tax summary is free for up to 100 transactions across 3 connections. Filing reports for your country start on the Starter plan; see pricing.
Can HashBooks trade or withdraw on Paymium?
No. The key you create is view-only, and HashBooks contains no code that can trade, withdraw or transfer. It’s encrypted with AES-256-GCM and deleted the moment you remove Paymium.
