Good to know
Bithumb specifics.
- Bithumb’s API has no trade-history endpoint that HashBooks can read, so trades must come from a file. Without them your gains can’t be worked out.
- Each account can have at most 10 API keys, and expired keys still count toward that limit.
- The Secret Key is shown only once, at issuance.

How to connect
Bring Bithumb in.
Pick the method that suits you — both land in the same ledger. Stuck? See connecting accounts in the help centre.
- Sign up at Bithumb, complete identity verification, and log in.
- Go to My Page, then API Management.
- Choose the permissions you need. Select asset inquiry and order inquiry only, and leave order placement and withdrawal unchecked.
- Register the IP addresses allowed to access the API.
- Agree to the terms and click API Key 생성 (Generate API Key).
- In HashBooks, choose Bithumb under Integrations and paste the key and secret.
- Download your trade, deposit and withdrawal history from Bithumb.
- Copy the rows into the HashBooks CSV / Excel template: date, type, what you sent and received, the fee, and any TDS.
- Upload it in HashBooks, check the preview, then confirm. Uploading the same file twice never double-counts.

A typical Bithumb sale, run through your country’s rules. Illustrative figures: HashBooks calculates the real ones from your records.

|---|---|
| Cost basis (FIFO) | −$2,000 |
| Long-term gain | $1,500 |

| Net gain | £20,000 |
|---|---|
| Less the annual exempt amount | −£3,000 |

| Capital Gains Tax | £3,463.80 |
Your salary decides how much of the gain falls in the 18% band. The full example in the help centre.

Security
A read-only Bithumb key, and nothing more.
Even if the key were misused, a view-only Bithumb key cannot trade or withdraw. It is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM and removed when you disconnect. How HashBooks keeps data safe.
Questions
Bithumb, answered.
Does Bithumb report my trades to the tax office?
Reporting depends on where Bithumb is regulated and where you live, so don’t rely on it. Your return has to include every sale and swap across all your platforms, which is what HashBooks brings together.
Why do I need a file for Bithumb trades?
The Bithumb API gives HashBooks your deposits and withdrawals but not your trades. Download your trade history from Bithumb and upload it with the HashBooks template; the two sources land in the same ledger.
How do I get my Bithumb transaction history for taxes?
Connect Bithumb with a read-only API key and HashBooks pulls the history for you. You can also export a statement from Bithumb and upload it with the HashBooks template.
Which HashBooks plan do I need for Bithumb?
Connecting Bithumb and seeing an estimated tax summary is free for up to 100 transactions across 3 connections. Filing reports for your country start on the Starter plan; see pricing.
Can HashBooks trade or withdraw on Bithumb?
No. The key you create is view-only, and HashBooks contains no code that can trade, withdraw or transfer. It’s encrypted with AES-256-GCM and deleted the moment you remove Bithumb.
